Patients begin to be evacuated from a hospital in Rafah... and a warning of a “coming disaster”
The charity Doctors Without Borders said it had begun an operation to evacuate patients at the Indonesian Rafah field hospital, while expressing its concern about an anticipated catastrophic situation.
In a statement on the “X” platform, the charity said that the impact of the Israeli attack on Rafah would have “catastrophic effects on more than a million people,” and that the living conditions of Palestinians in Gaza “will get worse.”
“We have begun to remove patients from the Rafah Indonesian field hospital, those who can walk, and we are also preparing for a possible evacuation,” said MSF medical team leader Aurélie Godard.
She added: "The few field hospitals or alternative structures being installed will not be able to handle the influx of wounded patients, in addition to normal medical needs such as deliveries and chronic diseases."
